BOPP laminated bags: glossy print that does not scratch

BOPP laminated bags are multilayer bags with an outer layer of biaxially oriented polypropylene, which gives gloss, stiffness and a high-quality print surface; a CPP or PE layer underneath seals the bag. The print sits between the layers, so it does not scratch off in handling.

VLM Poliplast produces BOPP laminated bags to order in Romania, using solventless lamination in-house, alongside single-film BOPP and CPP bags: flat or gusseted, clear, metallised with a very thin metallic layer or printed up to 8 colours.

These are flat laminated bags for general packing; formats with volume (doypack, quad-seal) and flow-wrap for automatic lines live in the pouches range. Food-contact structures ship with a declaration of compliance to Reg. (EC) 1935/2004 and (EU) 10/2011.

The short answer: choose a BOPP laminated bag when the print and the gloss sell the product; if the bag only packs and the graphics do not matter, a plain LDPE bag costs less.

Formats

  • Flat bag with two side seals
  • Side gussets for more volume, or a bottom gusset for upright packs
  • Euro hole or header on request, for hook display
  • Lamination finish: glossy, matt or soft-touch, to match the brand
  • Sizes and gauges set per order, to the product and the run

Plain BOPP and CPP bags

Alongside the laminates, the same range covers single-film bags: plain BOPP bags, glass-clear and stiff, for products that sell on visibility, and CPP bags, softer and more flexible, for goods that fold into the pack. Both are mono-material polypropylene, designed for the PP stream, and are printed on the surface for simple branding.

Why lamination protects the print

The graphics are reverse-printed on the inside face of the BOPP layer, then a second film is bonded over them with a solventless adhesive, in-house. The ink ends up sealed between two layers of film, so the pack stays scratch-resistant through filling, transport and shelf handling: what leaves the factory is what the shopper sees. The films behind the laminate are described on the packaging film page.

Where BOPP laminated bags are used

Snack, biscuit and confectionery brands use them for shelf packs; bakeries for dry goods; coffee roasters for flat ground-coffee formats; and non-food brands wherever presentation matters, from premium textiles and cosmetics to stationery and seasonal ranges. One laminated construction, with the graphics trapped between the layers, serves all of them.

Why buy laminated bags from VLM Poliplast

Solventless lamination, converting and printing up to 8 colours all happen in our own factory in Romania, in the EU, with smaller runs accepted, physical samples for validation before an order and a technical data sheet with every delivery, under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000 and ISO 45001.

Frequently asked questions

Are BOPP laminated bags recyclable?

It depends on the structure. BOPP/CPP is predominantly polypropylene and is designed for recycling in the PP stream; metallised versions and structures with a PE layer are assessed on the complete pack and documented per delivered structure.

Do BOPP bags handle heat?

Not high temperatures. BOPP keeps its shape and gloss in normal storage and handling, but it is not made for hot filling or heating. For hot products, other structures are chosen and confirmed at quotation.

Can the print cover the whole bag?

Yes. Lamination allows the print to sit between the layers, across the full surface, up to 8 colours: the graphics stay protected under the glossy outer layer and do not scratch off in transit.
