Grip seal bags and resealable zipper pouches, made to order
Grip seal bags are resealable polythene bags that close with a press-together zip profile and open again without tearing the pack. VLM Poliplast manufactures grip seal bags to order, plain or printed in 1-8 colours, alongside laminated zipper pouches with barrier, in sizes made to order for your product.
The US trade calls them reclosable poly bags, and they are also sold as zip lock pouches. We make every series in Bucharest, in LDPE from 50 to 150 microns or in barrier laminates, printed on one or both faces, and we supply a sample for validation before the series runs.
This page is not about boxes of a hundred stock baggies: every bag here is manufactured to your size and spec, shipped with a technical data sheet and, for food, a Declaration of Compliance under Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and Regulation (EC) No 10/2011.
Plain grip seal or laminated resealable pouches?
| Plain LDPE grip seal | Laminated zipper pouch |
| Clear film, full visibility of the contents | Printed shelf presentation, one or both faces |
| Freezer-ready: LDPE stays flexible down to -40°C | Oxygen and moisture barrier for coffee, spices, snacks |
| Lowest cost per bag, single material | 2-side seal with gusset or 3-side seal with wide premium seals |
| Spares, samples, craft, seeds, frozen goods | Retail food packed at the point of sale or on filling lines |
If the pack must stand upright on a shelf, start from the format that stands on its own; if the product never needs resealing, bags without the zip cost less.

Who uses grip seal bags
E-commerce sellers pack spares, accessories and small components; craft and jewellery brands use small printed sizes; growers pack seeds; food producers pack nuts, spices, dried fruit and frozen goods, with the laminated versions carrying coffee and supplements in powder and capsule formats. Describe the product in the form and you receive the format, the film and the thickness recommended for it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between grip seal and zip lock?
In practice, none: both names describe the same press-together profile with a double channel that clicks shut between your fingers. Grip seal is the usual UK trade name, zip lock the everyday one, and US suppliers list the same bags as reclosable poly bags. Slider zippers, pulled by a tab, are a different closure.
Are grip seal bags food safe?
Yes. LDPE and the PE inner layer of the laminated versions comply with Regulation (EC) No 10/2011 for direct food contact, and every food series ships with a Declaration of Compliance, backed by ISO 22000 certification.
What thickness should a grip seal bag be?
The working range is 50 to 150 microns. Light contents such as seeds, samples or accessories sit comfortably at the lower end, while sharp or heavy contents and packs that are handled often are safer at 80 to 120 microns. The thickness is confirmed at quotation, on the product.
Can grip seal bags go in the freezer?
Yes. LDPE stays flexible down to -40°C, which is why it is the standard film for ice and frozen goods, and the zip keeps working after freezing, so the pack can be opened and resealed portion by portion.
